An eligible entrant must satisfy bullet (1) or (2):
- An eligible recipient under section 3(21) of Perkins V [20 U.S.C. 2302]. The term eligible recipient means:
- a “local educational agency” [20 U.S.C. 8101(30)] (including a public charter school that operates as a local educational agency), an “area career and technical education school” [20 U.S.C. 2302(3)], an “educational service agency” [20 U.S.C. 2302(17)], an “Indian Tribe”, “Tribal organization”, or Tribal educational agency or a consortium, eligible to receive assistance under section 131 of Perkins V [20 U.S.C. 2351]; or
- an eligible institution or consortium of eligible institutions eligible to receive assistance under section 132 of Perkins V [20 U.S.C. 2352].
- A state, local, public, or nonprofit entity, e.g., labor and/or workforce board, chamber of commerce, intermediary, or consortium, that partners with one or more eligible recipients, as described in paragraph (1) above, to connect students to high-tech careers aligned with CHIPS.
